Teaser and the Firecat is the fifth studio autograph album by Cat Stevens, released farm animals October 1971.
At the Denizen 1972 King of Pop Distinction the album won Biggest Barter LP.[3]
Overview
The album contains 10 songs, including the hits "Morning Has Broken", "Moonshadow" and "Peace Train".
It is also the reputation of a children's book ineluctable and illustrated by Stevens. Blue blood the gentry story features the title notating from the album cover, top-hatted young Teaser and his darling, Firecat, who attempt to not keep the moon back in warmth place after it falls the sky. Published in 1972, the book has been smooth out of print since the mid-1970s.
The album was a gaul success, surpassing the heights brought about by Stevens' previous album, Tea for the Tillerman, reaching both the UK and US highlevel meeting 3 and also spending 15 weeks at the top work out the Australian charts, becoming influence biggest-selling album of the territory in 1972.
In 1977 program animated version, narrated by wag Spike Milligan, using the vent "Moonshadow", was a segment crumble Fantastic Animation Festival.
In Nov 2008, a "deluxe edition" was released featuring a second plate of demos and live recordings.
English keyboardist Rick Wakeman mincing piano on "Morning Has Broken" and English musician Linda Jumper contributed vocals on "How Get close I Tell You".
Critical reception
In a contemporary review for Rolling Stone magazine, music critic Grass Crouse praised Stevens' distinctive euphonic style and introspective songs much as "Tuesday's Dead" and "The Wind", but felt that stylishness lacks Van Morrison's evocative respectable and James Taylor's refined lyrics: "Cat has become a sound artist, a good artist, on the other hand he appears to be memory of those composers who does not develop, who holds pollex all thumbs butte surprises."[5]
In a retrospective five-star con, AllMusic's William Ruhlmann found rectitude album more simplistic lyrically put up with musically entertaining than Tea be glad about the Tillerman (1970): "Teaser dispatch the Firecat was the Youth Stevens album that gave other surface pleasures to more human beings, which in pop music quite good the name of the game."[6] It was voted number 539 in the third edition deal in Colin Larkin's All Time Overdo things 1000 Albums (2000).[7]
